This revolutionary commercial LED lighting system unites advanced Light Energy Diode (LED) technology with proven Solatube daylighting design. Starting at the roof level, patented dome technology captures daylight and transmits it indoors through the world’s most reflective tubing to spaces once thought impossible to reach with natural lighting. At the same time, proprietary SunSense Technology monitors daylight levels in the system and automatically triggers the LEDs when daylight levels get too low. All of this combines to make the Smart LED System and unbeatable sustainable lighting option and the most energy-efficient commercial lighting solution for small to medium-sized spaces.   

 


Flexible design

The Smart LED System was designed to operate individually to illuminate small areas or in dual configurations to attain predictable lighting results for medium-sized spaces. It also can be used to create specific architectural effects using wall washes and soffit lighting, making the Smart LED System an intelligent solution for achieving ambient light levels in spaces with ceiling heights up to 10 ft.

 

Reduces energy costs

During the day, the Smart LED System lights interiors using no-cost, natural light. As the sun starts to set and light levels fall, energy-efficient LEDs activate automatically to provide illumination for early morning and evening use. The result is a commercial daylighting solution that significantly cuts electricity use and delivers up to 94% in light energy savings.

 

 

 

 

Seasonal adaptability

Adequate light output is important for occupant satisfaction and productivity. The Smart LED System’s unique dual lighting design makes it extremely effective at delivering consistent lighting, regardless of hour or season. In winter, when days are shorter, daylight is supplemented by the system’s LEDs to ensure minimum lighting requirements are met throughout the day. In the spring and summer, when days are longer and more daylight is available, the LEDs are triggered only in the early morning and evening when they’re needed.  

 

Extended life

Unlike traditional light sources, LEDs expend significantly less energy to produce light. For this reason, they can last up to three times longer than compact fluorescent lamps, eight times longer than halogen lamps, and a whopping 25 times longer than incandescent lamps. The LED bulbs in the Smart LED System are designed to last up to 20 years, making maintenance easier since re-lamping will be unnecessary for decades.

 

Hands-free convenience

The Smart LED System constantly monitors daylight levels using proprietary SunSense Technology. When exterior daylight conditions are too dim, the LEDs automatically activate to maintain acceptable light levels, day or night. When daylight levels are sufficient, the LEDs turn off automatically. This hands-free approach eliminates the need for light level adjustments, providing added convenience for building occupants. Units can be connected to a wall switch or an optional occupancy sensor to ensure the LED lights only come on when there is a person present in the space.

 

Synchronized lighting

The Secondary System makes it possible to synchronize lighting in larger rooms and long corridors. Using a unique “link and light” design, it easily connects to the Primary System without the need for a new electrical connection, allowing the two Smart LED Systems to operate in tandem.

• Use 6 in. (150 mm) for areas prone to heavy snow loads

Daylight Dimmer

At times, it may be necessary to reduce the amount of bright daylight in a building—during a presentation, for instance. The optional Daylight Dimmer uses a patented butterfly baffle and a convenient wall-mounted switch to allow for simple and easy adjustments to room daylight illumination levels. 

Double-Pole Double-Throw (DPDT) Switch

Daylight Dimmer Switch Kit (sold separately) includes DPDT switch, wall plate and 30 ft./9 m of cable. Multiple Daylight Dimmers can be controlled by one switch.

Occupancy Sensor

If you thought the Solatube Smart LED System couldn’t get any smarter, think again. The optional Occupancy Sensor maximizes energy efficiency by preventing the LEDs from triggering unless an under lit area is occupied. If movement is present when light levels are low, the Occupancy Sensor will allow the LEDs to activate. If not, they remain dormant.  Once on, the system continues to assess light levels and will turn off the LEDs automatically when enough daylight is present. Building owners will save on electricity and never have to worry about the lights getting left on. It’s a smart solution for spaces that get occasional traffic—like restrooms, corridors, and offices—that can further reduce energy costs. 

 

Spectralight® Infinity Extension Tube

Extension tubes can be added in increments of 16 in. (400 mm) or 24 in. (600 mm) for long runs without sacrificing performance. The secret is the unrivaled reflectivity of Spectralight® Infinity tubing, making it possible to create 90 degree angles and long tube runs up to 30 ft. (9 m).

 

 

Spectralight® Infinity 0-90 Degree Extension Tube

Provides superior performance that flexible tubes can’t match. An innovative design with three built-in 30 degree angle adapters gives you the flexibility to install around obstacles. Available in 23 in. (580 mm) length.

 

 

Flashing Insulator

This insulating material helps to reduce condensation in cold climates when the flashing is exposed to a humid interior space. The insulator is affixed to the flashing base and the top tube slips through the opening, which provides a seal between the interior and metal flashing.

 

 

Flashing Turret Extensions

Use to raise the height of the Solatube dome on a roof to avoid snow, water, or shading from roof obstructions. Order additional Spectralight® Infinity Tubing to accommodate turret height. Available in 2 in. (50 mm), 4 in. (100 mm), 12 in. (300 mm), 24 in. (600 mm), 36 in. (900 mm) and 48 in. (1200 mm) sizes.

 

 

Dome Edge Protection Band

Made of galvanized steel, this optional component is designed for use on Class A, B or C roofs to maintain fire rating. 

 

 

Shock Inner Dome

High Velocity Wind Zone areas such as South Florida require the Solatube Shock Inner Dome. This high impact-resistant inner dome can also be added to any installation for extra protection from extreme forces.
